DESCRIPTION: The 21 bed Surgical Unit is comprised of 17 surgical beds with a 4 bed Constant Observation Unit. The Constant Observation Unit will provide post-operative care for surgical patients that require more nursing care hours. HOURS: Must be available for 11.25 hour tours, and other tours assigned by the hospital. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: ¨ Registered Nurse currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario ¨ 1year surgical experience within past 3 years preferred ¨ BCLS ¨ Medication, IV administration of, with a physician’s order preferred ¨ Experience with initiating IV site and solution, blood transfusions, chest tubes and underwater seals, chest auscultation, PCA and Epidural Analgesia, complicated dressing changes, gastro-intestinal care, airway management, and continuous bladder irrigation preferred ¨ Ability to adapt and work within a constantly changing environment ¨ Demonstrated commitment to ongoing/continuous professional development ¨ Basic computer skills (email, Electronic Patient Record) ¨ Demonstrated Values Based behaviour ¨ Excellent Attendance Record Our Vision is to Be the Best Community Hospital in Ontario Our 4 point Strategy to Be the Best B ecome the Employer of Choice E ngage our Community S trengthen Current and Forge New Partnerships T arget a Bold Fiscal Strategy We invite you to call Human Resources, extension 2188, if you wish to confidentially discuss this vacancy in more detail and/or need assistance with your application.
