OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY CONSULTANT Full Time People Development We Value: C ompassion, A ccountability, R espect, S implicity DESCRIPTION: This position will report directly to the Manager, HR/OHS and be part of the People Development team. HOURS: 0800-1600 hours, Monday to Friday, with fl exibility to work off-shifts as necessary. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides primary care to employees that includes, but is not limited to: post- offer health reviews, review of immunizations and immune status, review of any work restrictions/modifications in order to determine employee fitness to work. Participates in establishing employee modified work programs for occupational and non- occupational illnesses/injuries Provides ongoing communication to leaders/managers and scheduling office related to employee absences Develops and maintains liaisons with internal and external infection control resource personnel, for the purpose of managing or preventing employee exposures to infectious diseases. Cooperates with and acts as a resource to the appropriate personnel in the development and maintenance of Occupational Health and Safety Programs. Interprets and promotes conformity to applicable government legislation: i.e. WSIB, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Human Rights. Maintains accurate written and electronic records and adheres to professional standards and applicable privacy legislation. Participates in professional nursing organizations and assumes responsibility for professional growth and development. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: RN currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario with a minimum of 3-5 years Occupational Health experience, preferably in a healthcare setting Sufficent knowledge of specialized nursing procedures as they apply to assessment of and primary care for injuries and illnesses Proven ability to work independently, utilizing strong organization and interpersonal skills, leadership, problem-solving, negotiation and mediation skills Case management- implementing/monitoring occupational/non-occupational claims to effectively facilitate early and safe return to work Sound judgement in determining a course of action Strong interpersonal skills.
