DESCRIPTION: The Coronary and Intensive Care Unit is a 12-bed unit equipped for arrhythmic and hemodynamic monitoring, and ventilatory capability for six patients. HOURS: Must be available for 11.25 and 7.5 hour tours and other tours as assigned by the Hospital. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: · Registered Nurse currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario · 1 year ICU/CCU experience within past 3 years preferred · 3 -5 years medical or surgical experience required · ACLS preferred · ECG Rhythm interpretation · Ability to adapt and work within a constantly changing environment · Demonstrated commitment to ongoing/continuous professional development · Basic computer skills (email, Electronic Patient Record) · Demonstrated Values Based behaviour · Excellent Attendance Record NURSING COMPETENCIES: The nurse in the CICU is competent in optimizing ventilation status, cardiovascular status and pain management through: · Assessment · Devising and working within an individualized plan of care structured around the patient’s medical condition · Anticipation and intervention of potential or actual complications Please refer to the document ‘Nursing Competencies in the CICU’ for detailed information. Successful candidates will be in agreement with achieving these Nursing Competencies within the designated timeframes.
