Title: Compliance Officer Location: CO Compensation: D.O.E. Position: Develop and maintain current knowledge of all applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding the servicing of residential mortgage loans. Advise Company management as to changes in applicable laws and regulations, and the effect of those changes on Company practices. Perform legal research and analysis of state and federal mortgage lending and servicing practices. Thisincludes the review of statutes, regulations, and case law. · Responsible for interpreting legal research and assisting V.P./General Counsel in implementing compliant policies and procedures. · Oversee the internal quarterly compliance review functions. · Assist outside auditors, as needed. · Provide routine feedback to management for process improvement. · Random call auditing to ensure compliance with FDCPA, Asset Control, and any other Company policies and procedures. · Assists V.P./General Counsel in responding to state/federal agency inquiries and complaints. Qualifications: Significant experience in mortgage banking is strongly preferred, with solid understanding of quality-control audit operations. Some experience with sampling strategies desirable. · In-depth knowledge of state-specific and federal mortgage servicing laws and programs. · State licensing experience. · General working knowledge of Internet-based research is required. Added knowledge of online mortgage regulatory research sites (i.e., Allregs/ CompliSource), and the ability to interpret and apply regulations is an invaluable asset. · Experience writing policies and procedures. · BA degree is preferred, but extensive and successful mortgage servicing experience in lieu of a degree is equally desirable.
