Objectives   To assist in providing a secure, reliable local area and wide area network for 24/7 availability of the company business applications from anywhere in the world through the management of the information technology infrastructure by participating in the planning, implementation and administration of the organization’s Local Area and Wide Area networks, messaging infrastructure, and ancillary network services     Job Functions   ·         Ensures that the server backups complete correctly and errors are corrected ·         Ensures that Symantec Enterprise Security products are working and up-to-date, and any infected machines cleaned ·         Ensures that all servers are securely patched up using Shavlik, PCs are scanned to ensure proper patching, and exceptions reported to Desktop Team Leader ·         Provides 2nd line support for LAN/ WAN problems and guide junior staff ·         Ensures that all network and server documentation is up-to-date and accurate ·         Performs firewall configuration and WAN security tasks ·         Tests and documents procedures for new or modified software, hardware, and connected equipment, and guide junior administrators for installations and maintenance ·         Analyzes network design and network security needs, do research, evaluate, make recommendations and supervise implementation   Competencies   Knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems, firewall configuration, CISCO PIX etc Extensive knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies, messaging systems (Microsoft Exchange), ancillary utilities (Backup, Internet Security, Patch Management, Performance Monitoring etc) Extensive knowledge of computer hardware and software, networking and data-communication Knowledge of technology management principles and network security   Education and Experience   -          Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Engineering or related technical field. -          MCSA/CCNA or MCSE -          At least five (5) years’ experience in a medium-sized environment -          At least three (3) years’ experience performing Windows network administration functions, analyzing user requirements, liaising with vendors to provide solutions and managing small projects
