REPORTER: The Indianapolis Star, a Gannett Co. newspaper, is searching for a community news reporter. Indianapolis, the Midwest’s best-kept secret, offers small town appeal with all the benefits of living in a major metropolitan area. Enjoy a competitive salary and excellent benefits while contributing to central Indiana’s number one source for news and information. The Indianapolis Star is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity. We are seeking two reporters to join the staff of our community newspapers, covering news of local government, neighborhood groups, schools and moments of life in the cities and towns of central Indiana. The positions would be based in two of our suburban bureaus. The ideal candidate is a reporter and writer who is a self-starter. Daily newspaper experience and/or internships are required. The reporter must understand the elements and people who make news on a community beat, with a capacity for the ideas that make compelling stories. These positions will require strong writing talents, as well as an eye for visual storytelling opportunities and online content. In addition to coverage for the print editions, these reporters will be responsible for providing regular news updates as well as other content for our community microsites as well as IndyStar.com. These reporters will be responsible for arranging photos and also taking photographs with a point-and-shoot camera for publication. We will look to these positions for enterprise for other sections of the newspaper, including Metro and A1. More information on this Job
