Hess (NYSE: HES) is proud to be a Fortune 75, company with 14,000 employees in more than 15 countries.  This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has had some exposure to Procurement but would like to gain more experience and ultimately grow their career.  The indvidual in this  role will conduct the purchasing function for a major group of materials, equipment and services to ensure an uninterrupted supply at optimum cost and within the policies and guidelines established by management.  Additionally the incumbent will consolidate major purchases to secure the best possible pricing by using leverage.   They will also be responsible for negotiating long-term contracts to ensure optimum costs and reliable supply and maintaining relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure good, reliable sources of supply and information.  A technical background, contracting skills, negotiation skills, interpersonal skills and attention to detail are essential for success in the role. Responsibilities: •Work with BU’s under the direction of Senior Management to secure specialized technical materials and services. •Negotiate contracts valued up to the multi million dollar range and identify specific value-added resources and services to maximize contract. Perform opportunity analysis to identify projects that will deliver significant cost savings and value improvement. •Use e-sourcing technologies to develop RFI’s, RFP’s, reverse auctions and compose service contracts and supply agreements as required. •Lead cross functional teams in the development of sourcing strategies for key expenditure categories. •Negotiate short and long term contracts to guarantee most competitive cost and continuous supply. •Keep abreast of market conditions, price trends and new supply sources and services to reduce costs. •Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures, ethical practices and adherence to relevant laws and regulations. •Recommend standards for commodity costing, vendor selection and assist in the development of strategic procurement plan. •Bring to conclusion all disputed purchases of goods and services for the protection of the company and with fairness to the supplier. •Ensure thorough and complete purchase and inventory records to provide accurate accounting of all purchased goods and services. Other Significant Factors: •Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or supply chain management required. MBA or working toward an MBA preferred. •Possess 3-5 years experience in procurement or related field.  Strong oral and written communication skills required. •Strong negotiating skills with the ability to deal with people of all levels (i.e Directors, Vice Presidents, CEOs, Presidents, and Attorneys). •Strong Ability to evaluate the cost/benefit analysis of initiatives. •Candidate will have experience of contracts, purchasing, materials and logistics. •Excellent organization skills. •Must understand contract legal terms and conditions and work with both in-house and outside attorneys to resolve contract issues. •Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and with ERP applications such as SAP. •Ability to work well under pressure within strict time constraints. •Availability to travel up to 5%.
