THE BIG PICTURE Are you the type of person who writes 10 lines of code to automate something you do every day? Do you build and implement tools to make things easier? Do you ask yourself, “Why use a hammer when a howitzer would do just fine?” If this sounds like you, you may just be the perfect addition to our Management Information Systems (MIS) team to help us build, implement and maintain tools for our company. THE EVERYDAY VIEW A group within the Information Technology department, MIS is responsible for rolling out and supporting internal business and engineering support systems, including the CMVC build system, defect tracking, CRM, data mining, HRMS, KM/KMS, database systems and other information systems. In other words, we’re all about optimizing internal operations. We need an engineer who is meticulous about details but who gets the “big picture.” You need vast experience supporting, building and maintaining tools on various platforms. You’re highly proactive and able to handle complex and even specialized tasks. You don’t let obstacles slow you down and you help drive best practices and innovation across the department. You hold yourself to a high standard and raise the bar for the rest of us. (In school, we called people like you curve busters! ) Some of the day-to-day skills we’re looking for include: Implement an ERP infrastructure that integrates a range of business systems, including financials, CRM, operations, revenue royalty tracking, defect tracking, fixed-asset management, purchase requisition automation, sales operations, etc. Design and implement modular, integrated business applications, and extend existing applications for custom analytics and report generation Work closely with DivX end-users to model business processes and implement MIS automation and data analysis systems Develop custom database applications to address special-purpose business needs. These applications typically require support for data entry, systems integration, data validation, report generation, business analytics and possibly process automation. Design and implement automated unit and integration tests. Your code must be rock-solid, accurate, verifiable and extensible. Work within a team-based agile development environment with four week iterative development cycles and give input on design and tactical decisions to make code and tools work well. Train and support end-users on the use of MIS systems Some technologies we work with or will be working with include: CRM Tools – SalesLogix, RightNow, Microsoft CRM Reporting Tools such as Crystal Reports Issue Tracking Tools – Footprints, Remedy, etc. Bug Tracking Tools – Jira, RT, etc Web Development – Java, Perl, PHP, HTML To develop tools and applications that run on a variety of operating systems, you will also need experience with Microsoft Windows MSDEV, Linux, GCC, Java, C++, Python, MSSQL, SQLite, MySQL and Business Intelligence tools.
