The Principal Consultant is a member of a team that delivers a suite of specialist consulting services to Pöyry’s clients, including early project feasibility studies, field development planning (concept select), technical due diligence, audits and reviews, risk assessments, and project economic evaluation. To support these services, the Consultant provides major project expertise in one or more of the following areas: Major project development Project infrastructure (port facilities, transport, bridges, utilities, construction camps) Project approvals (planning, process and application preparation) Risk management (business and technical) Project constructability and logistics Costing and scheduling Contracting strategies The Consultant’s role will include working directly with our clients and working in Pöyry teams to perform consulting studies for our clients. Communications The Consultant liaises with: Director - Business Development for the development of consulting opportunities Manager – Consulting Services for the ongoing delivery of the services provided by the team Engineering staff from the multi-disciplinary team for support on consulting studies, and to support their engineering projects Responsibilities The Consultant’s responsibilities will vary from assignment to assignment but will typically include: Client liaison to develop the scope of services and associated proposals Delivery of consulting studies in accordance with client requirements and Pöyry’s quality management systems Leading consulting study teams Workshop facilitation Secondments to client organisations to perform studies and/ or perform project development roles The development of personnel under their supervision The development of systems and tools to improve the quality and efficiency of the consultancy services delivered Supporting the multi-disciplinary engineering team in the execution of their projects Qualifications / Skills and Attributes Required The successful candidate will have: Values in accordance with the Pöyry Value Set A degree qualification in a relevant discipline Membership in a recognised professional body Substantial oil and gas industry experience, typically: more than 20 years for a Principal Consultant; more than 15 years for a Senior Consultant; and more than 10 years for a Consultant The ability to develop a solid understanding of client’s business and markets Significant experience in the project development processes employed within the oil and gas industry, including knowledge of client and government approvals processes Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to communicate effectively across the range of disciplines typically engaged in the early phases of project development in the oil and gas industry An ability to develop excellent client relationships to trusted advisor status, leading to repeat business opportunities A commercial awareness of the consulting services sector to ensure successful financial outcomes from the services provided by the consulting team A good network of business contacts (clients, regulators, specialist consultants) More information on this Job
