BASIC FUNCTION OF JOB Senior Developers work with little supervision, preparing specifications, user requirements and programs of a highly technical or complex nature. They assist FBA-ISBA and other programmers with application or technical problems. They design, develop, test, debug, and document programs on large-scale, complex projects. The senior level position requires advanced technical knowledge in all areas of applications programming, system design and update, storage and retrieval methods, application performance optimization. This position makes decisions that can affect the overall outcome of the business or the company, in conjunction with Leads and technical Management. WORK PERFORMED The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Oversee Implementation of project architecture, design, standards and processes, working with Lead and Manager Research, identify and document clients technical requirements Determine and identify appropriate technologies to be used Develop and document the system architecture Develop and document the high-level technical design Identify project tasks and define task definitions Assist in developing technical project schedules, plans, task assignments and time estimates Attend regular project technical team meetings Provide senior project staff with full communication of project progress Assist with development of project code Take an active role in development of low-level design Work with Lead and Manager to develop time estimates for project tasks Develop code in keeping with established processes and standards Debug and unit test modules before deployment to QA environment Assist deployment staff by providing necessary documentation Create and maintain project documentation, in accordance with established standards To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Essential Functions of Job: Designing and building applications with languages as outlined Experience with a revision control system Strong creative problem-solving ability Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and meet tight deadlines Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills Ability and desire to thrive in a fast-paced, client-services environment KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES The ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business/ professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations is necessary. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, other employees is a plus. This level generally requires 5-7 years relevant professional experience or equivalent education. Depending on the Team Assigned to, skills are needed as outlined below: Team: Languages: Environments: PMVS Java; C; XML Linux; NT; MS OSs RepUI C# .net Windows Desktop EDI Unix; Perl; ANSI X12; XML TLE or other Translator ABAP ABAP, ABAP-EDI, Workflow, SmartForms, SAP-ADOBE, SAP-BI SAP, various modules (eg. SD MM FI HR PP etc.) Regardless of team assigned to, it is expected that all developers will pursue knowledge of the SAP system, since it is integral to the overall business flow at Insight. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Education and/or Experience: Bachelors degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Any Other Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None SUPERVISION This employee has minimal supervisory duties, primarily around projects and initiatives. He does not have direct reports. Position reports to: Manager of Application Development Supervision Received: Employee is given resources and strategies, and they develop ways to accomplish given tasks. They are expected to work with minimal supervision. TRAINING Person Responsible for Training: Training is given by Manager, Insight Training Staff, and other co-workers and technical Leads. Specific Training Timeline and Requirements: Specific training is given as needed and reasonable time is allotted to accomplish the training.
