The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is a research university and academic health center that discovers, teaches and applies knowledge for the intellectual, cultural, social and economic benefit of Birmingham, the state and beyond. We have an opportunity in Clinical Research for a Histology Technician to perform a variety of routine histological procedures in Animal Resources related to the preparation of gnotobiotic animal tissue for microscopic examination by a pathologist. Procedures performed include embedding, microtomy, staining and other special techniques required for diagnosis.
High School diploma or GED
Certification or eligibility as a Histotechnician (HT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
If eligible for certification, must obtain within two (2) years of hire date
