Nashville, Tennessee, Description JOB SUMMARY: Provide, under direct supervision, support for specified research projects; collect, assess, and communicate data/results. Assist in general laboratory operation and inventory. Department Summary: The Ian M. Burr Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Childrens Hospital is nationally recognized for our expertise, experience and research in hormone-related disorders in children. We evaluate and treat a wide range of disorders, including those of the adrenal gland, bone and calcium, growth, the pituitary gland, hypoglycemia, puberty and thyroid disease and certain genetic disorders. About half of our patients are referred to us for care of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. We care for more than 2,800 children and teens with diabetes from nine states at the Vanderbilt Eskind Pediatric Diabetes Clinic, and at satellite clinics across Tennessee. Additional Key Elements/ Responsibilities: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Under supervision, run experiments, assays, and record results Read and follow experimental protocols (May include animal handling, tissue culture, etc.) Compile and communicate results to supervisor Follow University safety protocols (may include use of combustibles, radioactivity, toxic material, and/or carcinogenics) Perform calculations involving molarity, % solutions, and serial dilutions Prepare and operate equipment in experimental procedures May include blood gas analyzer, centrifuge, pH meter, spectrophotometer, autoclave, scintillation counter, electrophoresis unit, analytical balance, etc. Maintain and repair equipment according to manufacturer and university guidelines. Ensure Laboratory is prepared for experiments Maintain inventories, Maintain sterile conditions as required Prepare reagents Clean equipment. Position Qualifications: * Bachelors Degree (or equivalent experience) and *CA *IND000 *NHCN
